goth clubbing, etc.

wow, i haven't been here in a long time. we're in our second wave of midterms right now. not much going on with school. well, i am taking this one anthro class about evolution + sexual selection, and my professor actually says things like 'the evils of patriarchy' with a straight face, and i can't tell if she's joking or not. also, i'm doing research with a psych lab on a study that examines the differences (if there are any) of effects on asian american subjects depending on if they write or talk about a traumatic event.
i've been going out a lot more this year than before. and by a lot more, i mean that i used to never go out, and now i do :P. i'm crashing the ballroom dancing class this semester, and i go to salsa clubs with friends every few weeks. i've also taken up goth clubbing, which is really fun. i just like excuses to dress up weirdly.
at the end of september i went to pretty much the biggest rave ever; it's an annual thing in downtown la called nocturnal festival where they block off part of downtown and have a bunch of stages, pretty colored lights, artsy sculptures, trance paraphernalia vendors, etc. the awesome thing was that paul van dyk djed, and it was amazing to see him because he's the guy who pretty much got me into the whole techno thing. a funny thing i noticed was that the general level of attractiveness there was super high--there were a gazillion hot people wandering around. it was the most attractive people i've ever seen in one place at the same time before. must be the drugs keeping them skinny :D i was also horribly overdressed (for a girl) because i was, among other things, actually wearing pants.

or maybe it was the drugs YOU were taking that made them so hot.

Did you really like Paul van Dyk? He played at a club in Beijing once and I thought it was boring
